recording engineer + producer

As a producer and recording engineer I work across a range of styles, and mostly with contemporary and classical artists, from solo to chamber and orchestral settings, live on location or in studio. I also enjoy working with jazz and electronic musicians, as well as vocal and choral groups.

I provide a complete audio production service from recording to mixing and mastering, in stereo and surround formats (ambisonics and Dolby Atmos).

Examples of recent recording projects include recordings with Explore Ensemble, Exaudi Vocal Ensemble, Her Ensemble, Mark Fell and Limpe Fuchs, the London Contemporary Music Festival Orchestra, Nonclassical and the Southbank Sinfonia. See below for more information and samples.

“parallaxis forma” - Another Timbre

Engineer, mixer, producer, and cover artist for album on Another Timbre: music for voice and ensemble by Berlin-based American composer, Catherine Lamb, featuring Explore Ensemble, Exaudi Vocal Ensemble, and Lotte Betts-Dean.

“Perfect Offering” - Explore Ensemble

Engineer, mixer, masterer, and producer for an Explore Ensemble portrait album with Huddersfield Contemporary Records (HCR), including music by Cassandra Miller, Lisa Illean, Rebecca Saunders, and Lawrence Dunn.

Mixed in stereo, binuaral, and Dolby Atmos, and incorporating a new workflow based in ambisonics: using Blue Ripple plugins to mix first in third order ambisonics and then convert the 3D soundfield into Atmos masters. Ambisonics offers a more flexible, reliable, and accurate long-term spatial master.

For more info on the spatial mixing, read my article on NMC: ‘Spherical Sound: from Ambisonics to Atmos.‘
